Video Tutorials
Instruction manuals are well and good, and a handy source of reference. But for many people, especially visual learners, actually seeing something done can be extremely beneficial. One of my personal goals at currIQunet was to push the boundaries of how our instructional material was delivered. What could we do to better demonstrate the product to the clients? How could we help the clients use META better, and have a more enjoyable experience? How could we provide the absolute best customer support and training possible?
This brought about video tutorials. This project involved several factors:
-
Finding appropriate affordable software for screen recording and editing.
-
Learning the best methods of video production (video resolution, framerate, file size, etc.)
-
Establishing a professional, secure method of delivery.
I eventually settled on Flash-Integro's VSCD as the software of choice. It was robust, has a moderate learning curve produced satisfactory results (with occasional trips to the support section of their website), and is cost-effective. We found these incredibly effective at delivering user-paced training on newer aspects of META. Since every person who pays attention to their business wants to know how long it takes to produce something, a tutorial such as the one below took me approximately 12 hours from start to finish. However, as I develop further tutorials, experience shortens the timeframe. I also implemented the use of templates to save time and ensure a consistent look and feel.
These videos look best when played on a full screen.

Aggregate Assessment Tutorial
In META, an Assessment may be an individual assessment, or an aggregate assessment--an assessment of other assessments, or an assessment other aggregate assessments. To help the user manages to wrap their head around that concept, and create aggregate assessments, I prpoduced the tutorial below.
