3D Modeling

I see 3D printing as one of the next revolutions of global society, eventually having as much or more impact than the internet. Because of this, and my interest in modeling and graphic art, I began teaching myself Blender. Blender is an amazingly free program with a rather steep learning curve. These two models are my first two successful attempts.

Kestrel II VTOL

This model began life as a paper model designed in Adobe Illustrator. Eventually, I discovered Blender, but later switched to Fusion 360 and rebuilt the model from scratch. This gave me a good opportunity to learn new software. Bu using good production practices and planning, elements of all my models are compatible when printed. This and several other models can be found on my Cults3d page. As of 2023, I have 34 designs available for dowload, and release an additional model each month.

Training Knife

Based on the success of Woodsmiths' wooden training knife (we sold 40 in a single day during at a martial arts tournament) I decided to create a version for 3D printing. When I began studying HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts), I created an easy to print training dagger. The challenges of this design were to ensure that it would print on most printers, and stand up to the rigors of hand-to-hand training. I also include extra handle designs for customization.
